The SAFE E-BIKE Method: A Pledge for Every Ride
When you complete this course, you’ll commit to the SAFE EBIKE Pledge — a clear promise to yourself, your friends and your community. The acronym breaks down as:
S – Speed under control & give space: Ride at safe speeds and allow distance to stop when needed.
A – Stay Alert & distraction-free: Keep focus, avoid impairment, and ride with full awareness.
F – Follow the rules of the road: Obey traffic laws, signals and signs — because your e-bike is a vehicle.
E – Check my Equipment before every ride: Ensure brakes, tires, helmet, lights and battery are in prime condition.
E – Everyone can see me: Use lights, reflectors and clear signals so you’re visible day or night.
B – Be a defensive rider: Ride predictably, scan for hazards, assume others may not see you.
I – Indicate my intentions clearly: Signal turns, give cues, share your plans with other road users.
K – Show Kindness & courtesy: Share the road, respect pedestrians, never carry extra passengers.
E – Expect the unexpected: Be prepared for obstacles, car doors, sudden stops, weather changes.
By embracing the SAFE E-BIKE method you’re not just taking a course, you’re committing to a mindset of responsibility, awareness and respect. When you ride this way ,every ride, every day,you model the behavior of a truly safe, capable e-bike rider.
