Turning personal experience into safer riding for everyone
Overview
Safe eBike is a student-led initiative founded by Jack-Oliver Jamin to help young riders better understand e-bike safety, traffic laws, and responsible riding. What began as a personal realization has grown into an educational platform combining a free online course, community outreach, school programming, and partnerships with local organizations.
Founder Story
After receiving an e-bike, Jack-Oliver realized that he was not riding as safely as he had assumed. He also saw friends making many of the same mistakes and noticed that young riders were often unclear about the laws, equipment, and responsibilities that come with riding an e-bike.
Rather than simply recognizing the problem, he decided to create a practical solution. He built Safe-eBike.com to give students, families, and schools access to straightforward safety information, an online course, and resources that promote safer and more responsible riding.
The Vision
Jack-Oliver’s goal is to help young people enjoy the independence and convenience of e-bikes while understanding how to protect themselves and others.
“E-bikes are a great way for kids to get around, but it’s important that we understand how to use them safely. My goal is to help make sure kids can enjoy them while also protecting themselves and others.”
Safe eBike began as a local initiative in New Canaan, but the long-term vision is to create a model that students, families, schools, and community organizations can use in other towns and countries.
From Idea To Action
Safe eBike quickly expanded beyond online education and into the community. Jack-Oliver began working with local schools and police to bring safety information directly to young riders.
He presented to students, hosted an interactive safety table during lunch periods, distributed visibility equipment, and used a safety quiz and helmet raffle to engage students. He also participated in Bike & Roll to School Day, helping promote safer riding alongside school and local law enforcement officials.
For municipalities, schools, hospitals, student assemblies, community panels, events.
